These are very very cool, however, I do not believe they are intended to be used with o-rings. Using o-rings as retainers caused the o-ring to push into my piercing very uncomfortable. The taper is a consistent radius and it does not seem to have any issues staying in place without an o-ring to retain it. After a short period, the piercing shrinks sufficiently to hold the jewelry. Again, very very cool.
