Nice black bead, doesn't look plastic-y, and isn't coated so the color wont scratch off! The ends around the holes are very slightly concave which helps when putting them in a lot. I do recommend ring openers and closers for these though, openers for putting them in using openers I haven't chipped them at all, and closers because the flattened/concave ends actually make them a little too narrow to fit snugly so you might need to tighten the ring a bit to make 'em stay in. Definitely will be getting more!

I bought these for my husband. He loves them!! They stayed really well in his ear jewelry. I had them where there was more clothing movement and mine fell out a few times though. Really pretty!
