So, now that I have an 8ga. septum I was wondering. How many people here with septum piercings live where it gets cold? Here in Pennsylvania it gets pretty cold, and i'm not the type to stay indoors much. I know having a piercing increases your chances of frostbite, and metal conducts heat really well so..........
Do you guys switch to acrylic jewelry in the winter, or just grin and bear it? If the metal ring is going to be a problem I want to have something else before it gets cold. On another note, sweatlodge is at the end of the month so i'm going to need some non-metal jewelry anyway, so what do you guys think? An acrylic plug?

I've never had a big problem with my septum in Wisconsin winters while I was at college, but I've only ever had it at 14g.
I did buy some cheap-o acrylic plugs from hot topic once last minute before I had my tonsils out. I also recently wore the same acrylic plug for two or three weeks on family vacation and it didn't really bother me too much, except it was too long. If you want it to be really comfortable, I'd check the length before you get anything. Maybe this is already intuitive to you, but I thought I'd point it out. |

![]() Now THAT was cold. It's bittersweet, because I can't even ride it now when it's warm

KAOS!
I love my solid front plugs. They are actually my jewelry of choice - though I was rockin' my shell pincher over the weekend. It does get cold here, though not anything near what you get. Buy some silicone, my friend. You will not be disappointed.

I've never had a problem with mine, and winters in Indiana can get brutal. However, I only have a 16g retainer in mine.

I didn't have a windshield, and it seemed my legs funneled the cold air directly to my junk. I was usually riding to my girlfriends house, so I had to thaw out Mr. winky before we could have any fun. "I swear baby, it's just the cold "I'm checking out the Kaos solid front plugs deb has mentioned 1,468 times ![]() Guess she really likes those plugs

I can't help it that they are that good. When the question comes up, it is the only answer I have.

![]() Is it some kind of magic trick? Looks like it would be tricky. Also, so you think my septum would be healed enough for silicone? They're cheap, and look comfy. They'd hide well, but how easy are they to put in?

Think I had to wait 3-4 weeks post stretch to use them again. Dab of oil on the backside. There's a dimple there to hold it. push. It goes right in. Never had trouble.
