Lively is a new virtual world app from Google so you can bet it will be awesome as time goes on. I just found out about it today, but apparently it was released two days ago.
I created an island as our "room" (it just seemed so calm and relaxing!) but I'm quickly realizing that it should be a real room with walls so we can hang pictures of customers wearing jewelry and videos of customers etc...
I guess some day, all online customer service and even online buying will be done in virtual worlds like lively. Is that one more post-it reminder note for me or ten bazillion!? Probably the latter!
But hey we can check it out now and see where it leads us.
It seems better than second life in that they're allowing the rooms and objects to live outside of lively on web sites, blogs etc...

Cool. Hope they will work for Linux someday. Hubby is thinking of ditching Windows altogether. Got one Windows box vs. 3 Linux, so I may be beat.
But since its google, I bet it will be lots more user friendly than SL.
I have to use all Windows software for now because our entire business is built on their software.
But I love to hate MS as much as the next person. Even though I have automatic updat installs turned off on my personal PC, MS occasionally thinks the update is important enough to install it anyway and reboot my PC. MY PC doesn't restart, it has to be powered off and restarted. So they basically crash my PC every time they do that.
And starting a few days ago they've started installing an update that crashes internet access when zone alarm is installed. Lovely stuff.
OK, rant off.

So that's what is going on with zone alarm! I'm having the same problemill have to get onto fixing that. Bloody M$
I can't wait to go into your virtual steel navel and have a look! I'm on my phone atm, so can't get there. Can we have avatars like second life?
It would be awesome if the room was a replica of the steel navel offices, then my avatar could come in and rummage through the goodies! Weeeee!
Ah Crap! Thats exactly whats going on with us. Gotta let hubby know. He was on the phone for hours last night with tech support. He was sure it was the router!
Thanks John!
Not only is he the jewelry guru - bringing you the best shinies at the best prices - he is also a Master of the Internet!
Oh good! I get to use my college degree for good!
Here's how I've been getting rid of it:And then when M$ asks you to install it in the future say "no thank you" and "don't remind me in the future" because I enjoy the Internet and my free fire wall. So leave me alone you big meanie head!
- Open Add or Remove Programs.
- Select Show updates check box at the top.
- Uninstall Security Update for Windows XP (KB951748)
- Reboot

You do have an avatar and they can give each other hugs, dance, and lots more. It's no where near as rich as second life, but it's much easier to use.
Someday you will be able to paw through the jewelry and even try it on!
When a couple of you have the lively software downloaded we should all meet up in the steelnavel room. Now we have the island room for relaxing and the lounge for viewing videos and pictures. The video is working great but the pictures are too big! I have the room configured to be editable by everyone so you all can hang pictures, add furniture, and move stuff around. Cause I'm so trusting!
The lounge room is here:

Thanks to whoever left the nice potted plant in the corner. That's a nice touch! I removed the jumbotron showing the conch punch video because it was annoying to always have it on. I also removed the pictures but I'm working on putting up some new ones. I'll be in the lounge until about 5 PST if anyone wants to pop in and say hi.
