Thread: New to Nostril Piercing - I have some questions

This piercing has been pretty easy to heal, minus two towel incidents.

So... technically, according to my piercer, I could go on Saturday for an adjustment, but now I'm considering putting the neometal jewelry in myself. What do you think?

I'd get a piercer to do it, if they think it can be changed this soon. It's still fairly new and that is a difficult spot to maneuver by yourself (especially trying to find the hole on the inside). You may fumble with it and your hole can close. Plus any fumbling can irritate it, so its better to get a piercer who can do it without much difficulty.

If 'twere me, I'd have my piercer do it, because I am not very dextrous, and have lost piercings trying to change them myself.

^ agree. It can be difficult until you get the hang of it, and seeing as it's not completely healed up, you'd best to have a piercer do it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take the jewelry to him and see what he thinks is best... maybe it will just be an adjustment this trip.

With my grandmother going to the hospital and life being busy in general, I have yet to get to my piercer...

at least I'm fairly confident that it is healed by now. Feels good.

Stay away from nose bones. Trust me.

Tell your piercer if you plan to wear a ring at times, because it may affect the choice of placement.

Blowing your nose gently is always a good idea, pierced or not.
    You basically said it!

Definitely stay away from rings for quite a while. At least till it heals ALL THE WAY. not only will you bump it more and it will feel wierd, but it could get caught. And while that hurts ANYWAY, its TERRIBLE in a fresh piercing.

NOSE BONES. just... don't do it. They have a little ball at the end to keep it from coming out. Sounds good on paper. But they STILL COME OUT. and not only that, but the ball is, obviously, bigger than the bar, so it actually tears its way out. PAINFUL. there will be many nights when you're sleeping and in a delirious state, will try to take out your piercing thinking there is something stuck on you. Its a rude awakening to be tearing your nose. IT.HURTS.

but pretty much, you're piercer will know all this and he will most likely bend one for you cause thats just the way it should be done. Nothing is better than custom fit jewelry.

OH! and I wanted to add:

I'm not sure of the dimensions of your nose, but I know that I have a fairly large nose. And almost ALL the jewelry that I've used that was nostril piercing specific, fails. The only thing I actually EVER use in my nostril piercings, are 14g labret studs. haha! sounds wierd, yes there is a lot of metal in my nose (what with TWO labret studs, one one each side, AND my septum), but feels SO much nicer than any other nose jewelry I've used. I've never ripped these out, they feel great, and I like the size of them more.

SO TRUE! I've done that exact thing more than once.
That's why I'm SO glad I got the Neometal threadless with the disk back
